KAWARTHA LAKES Triathlon Training Camp

June 21 – June 23


Come join Team Atomica Endurance & Clinical Exercise Physiologist expert Darian Silk for a weekend training adventure in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes region, where you can kick off your triathlon-focused summer training with an idyllic place to swim, and quiet roads and scenic trails, on which to cycle and run.   

This camp is perfect for triathletes, and other endurance athletes, looking for a solid training weekend, filled with expert coaching and advice on all three sports.  No minimum performance level is required, but this is not a “learn to tri” camp…athletes should be comfortable swimming in the open water, and cycling on open country roads.  

Athletes must bring all of their training and associated gear for: Swimming (including open water swim float – wetsuit optional); Running (road running shoes only is fine); Cycling (Road or tri bike; and spare tube, patch kit and equipment to change a tire are recommended.)  

Lake swims will have on-water boat support; and long rides will have van support. 

Shared accommodations: are in a comfortable, family cottage, that is owned by one of our Team Atomica athletes.  This large, private property 10 includes multiple full baths, 9 bedrooms bedrooms, a studio and bunkie and is located on beautiful Sandy lake, which is about 5km west of the community of Buckhorn. Sandy lake is land-locked, with a limestone base, and spring fed, that is known for its warm, peaceful and crystal clear water. The lake offers exceptional swimming and the winding, back-country roads, and shady forest trails that surround it, offer picture-perfect, run and cycling opportunities.  Bedding and pillows will be provided.

Meals:  Dinners will be provided (Darian will be ‘Chef de Mission’ and, athletes will be expected to assist); and athletes will be responsible for bring their own breakfast and lunch items.


Tentative Schedule (Final schedule is weather dependent and subject to change)

Early Afternoon:  Lake swim for early arrivals
Late Afternoon:  Short run
After Dinner: Briefing and nutrition talk and “how to change a tire” workshop (if needed)

AM: Long morning ride up to 100km, with options for multiple turnaround points and post-ride brick run.
Post Ride: Coach presentation on topic TBD (open water swimming strategies and tips, how to read your trainingpeaks data etc.)
PM: Kayak-accompanied swim. Swim-run option available

AM: Brick workout with pre-workout coach briefing on pacing
Lunch: Meal and discussion on topic TBD (pacing and HR drift? What metric to use when?)
Early Afternoon: Open Water Swim.  Practice of swim starts, beach and deep water entry and exits etc.
