California Training Camp  

February 18th – 25th, 2017

Beat the winter blahs and boost your training by joining Team Atomica in sunny southern California! Based in Orange County with its rolling hills, gorgeous trails to run on and numerous outdoor swim options, this camp will crank up your fitness. With an excellent coach to athlete ratio we can customize training sessions to fit your needs. Join us and get a head start on your 2017 race season!

Schedule: (subject to change)

Saturday PM – short ride/run to get legs loose, possible yoga

Sunday – Mountain Ride #1; afternoon trail run. Nutrition/recovery talk

Monday – long ride through Silverado and Santiago Canyons; pm trail option

Tuesday – Pool swim in the AM. Running drills, strength and power work in the PM. Run video analysis.

Wednesday – Pool swim in the AM. Mountain Ride #2

Thursday – Pool swim in the AM.  Cycling hill repeats and trail run in the afternoon

Friday – Pool swim in the AM. PM Trail/beach run/open water swim possible

Saturday – Ride out the door in the morning for some great local hills, check out

Cost – $1600+HST
A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot on a first come first serve basis. Use the password “atomica” for all email transfers please. Deposits will only be refunded if we do not meet the minimum numbers required to run the camp.

Space – Minimum 7 people and maximum 14.

Athletes will stay in houses in the beautiful hills of the city of Laguna Niguel, located in Orange County, approximately 1.5hr south of Los Angeles International Airport. Mostly single occupancy with limited shared rooms available.  Potential housing discount for couples who are sharing a (queen-sized) bed.

Swimming will take place in heated outdoor pools and (for the brave and cold-tolerant – typical water temps are 14-15C) in the waters of the Pacific – open ocean and sheltered back bay possibilities.

Cycling will occur in and around the region, with great potential for beautiful urban, suburban and mountainous riding on protected bike lanes right from the front door. Epic bike trips into the mountains are only a short drive away and should not be missed.

The region is peppered with numerous parks and reserves which will allow easy access to countless kilometers of trail running throughout the beautiful California hills.

Cycling & Running – exact locations weather and athlete dependent

6Silverado Canyon (70-100km, 700-900m of climbing)
5Hwy 39 – (40-50km round trip, ~2500m of climbing)
4Glendora Mountain Rd. up to Mt Baldy (~80km round trip; ~1600m of climbing)

Other possible routes – Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego (100+ km; moderate climbing only)

A “classic” ride of southern California.  A mix of road, bike path and trail to take you all the way to Tijuana (if you want…)
