You Know You’re a Triathlete When…

We are quirky bunch but, as far as we’re concerned, our quirks make perfect sense.  If you swim, bike, run often, then it’s likely a few of the following will resonate:

– No matter how many showers you take (and you take at least two a day), or how much perfume or cologne you might wear, you always smell faintly of chlorine.

-You’re not shy about stripping down and changing clothes anywhere.

– You buy baby wipes even though your kids are in college.

– You’re often hungry even though it seems you just ate.

– It’s hard to recall ever feeling totally fresh…or totally free of some kind of niggle.

– You have been known to ride (or run) around the block just to hit a round number on your Garmin.

– You see your massage therapist, chiro, physio, osteo more than you see some of your closest friends.

– Occasionally, you work out before work, during lunch, and after work.

– You always travel in full compression gear.

– You wear running shoes whenever you can

– You drive with a tennis ball, lacrosse ball, water bottle, (even your fist!) under your hamstring.

– You go to bed by 9:00pm or at least you wish you could.

– You’ve been known to skip a social event because of a long run or ride on tap for the morning.

– You’ve been late for a meeting/ flight/ important event because you had to get your workout in (but you may have said you were stuck in traffic).

– You’ve run back home after realizing you forgot your Garmin.

– You hit your watch before you hit the wall in a swim set (even if there are pace clocks on deck).

– You wear your race swim cap to rec swim as a badge of honour.

– You notice when someone wears a race swim cap to rec swim as a badge of honour.

– You have at least one bike in your living room.

– You’re always nicer (and generally better at everything) after a workout.
